Mason Joshi’s Eagle Scout Project

The Nashua Conservation Commission would like to thank Mason Joshi of Nashua’s troop 19 for his Eagle Scout Service Project.

Mason worked with the Conservation Commission to find and fill a need on Conservation Property in Nashua. His goal was to help birds whose existence is threatened due to habitat loss. Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows are species that have been in decline because of habitat loss. Both species usually nest in natural cavities in trees near fields and these nesting places are in decline.

Mason built nest boxes that are suitable for both Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows for his project, Tweet Suites. Mason researched house design, planned, fundraised, recruited and organized volunteers, and oversaw the completion of the project. This involved acquiring the materials, constructing the boxes, and installing them. He also designed and created interpretive signs, which were installed at the Buckmeadow and Terrell Homestead Conservation Areas.

Mason put a lot of work into this project and we thank him for that. The family of Tree Swallows that used one of his boxes this year also thanks him!
